The absolute avdenture
©V.Curutchet / DPPI / Idec
On November 23rd 2007, Francis Joyon set off in IDEC II, his new MaxiTrimaran in an attempt to beat Ellen MacArthur's current world record for a single handed no-stop circumnavigation. It's a sort of revenge for the French sailor that had his previous world record beaten by Ellen MacArthur two years ago and it is also a great challenge of sport, high technology and courage as only a world circumnavigation could be. While I'm writing these words Joyon, after just 10 days of sailing, has already 822 miles of advantage.
To know everything about Francis Joyon, his record attempt and his actual position go to his site (in french)
