A very special one

In the previous post I've spoken about the beach of Ostional, Costa Rica, where millions of sea turtles born every year. Here there is one in particular, probably ill-fated but truly exceptional.
This two-headed hatchling was born in good health - both heads were emerging above the water surface to breathe. “This is something that no one here has seen in more than 50 years of working with sea turtles,” said Melvin and Olger Chavarría owners of a local lodge.
The two-headed turtle caught the attention of WWF, the global conservation organization, which says deformations of this sort can be associated with contaminants, increased temperatures possibly resulting from climate change, or other causes like industrial and agricultural contaminants in the sea.
